Trucking Cargo Control refers to the various methods and equipment used in securing loads during transportation. This is an essential practice that ensures the safety of the driver, the vehicle and other road users, as well as preventing damage to the load in transport.
Load Securement
Loads must be securely fastened to ensure safety for the driver and to prevent breakage on-route. At MTN Industrial, we offer many load securement solutions such as straps, chains, binders and other tie-down equipment to ensure your cargo has a safer journey in transit.

Ratchet Straps
These are adjustable straps that are designed to securely fasten cargo, preventing it from shifting or coming loose during transit. Ratchet Straps are typically made from strong and durable webbing material, often polyester or nylon, which provides the necessary strength and resistance to weather and abrasion. What makes them unique is their ratcheting mechanism, which allows for precise tensioning of the strap, making it easier to achieve a tighter hold on the load.
Cam Buckle Straps
Cam Buckle Straps are similar to ratchet straps but use a cam buckle instead of a ratchet for tightening. They are suitable for lighter loads and are easier to release.
Chain Binders
Chain Binders are designed for securing heavy cargo using chains. They provide a high level of strength and durability and are often used for securing equipment and machinery. Chain Binders come in different types, including Lever Binders, which use a lever mechanism to apply tension to the chain. They are typically faster to operate than ratchet binders but require more physical effort. Ratchet Binders, on the other hand, use a ratcheting mechanism to gradually tighten the chain. They provide more control and are easier to use in tight spaces, but they may take slightly longer to set up compared to lever binders.
Winch Straps
Winch Straps are equipped with flat hooks on one end to attach securely to winch tracks or winch bars installed on flatbed trailers. They provide a secure way to tie down cargo on flat surfaces. Winch straps are particularly useful for securing heavy or oversized loads. They are typically made from durable and high-strength polyester webbing, providing both strength and resistance to weather and abrasion.
Tarp Straps
Tarp Straps are used to secure tarps over the loads on open-bed trailers. They are typically made from elastic rubber to keep the tarp in place. Tarp Straps have hooks or other attachment mechanisms at both ends. These hooks are used to secure the strap to the trailer or other anchor points.
Cargo Nets
Cargo Nets are designed to contain loose or irregularly shaped cargo, such as logs, gravel, debris or any smaller items. They are equipped with attachment points such as hooks or rings to secure the net to the vehicle and are typically used in conjunction with straps. Cargo Nets are typically constructed from high-strength webbing material, often nylon or polyester and feature a mesh design to allow for visibility and airflow.
Load Stability
Keeping the load stable and unable to shift is crucial to delivering it in the highest quality possible and preventing damage.

Shoring Bars
Shoring Bars are designed to prevent cargo from shifting or tipping over during transit, providing lateral support and helping to distribute the weight of the load evenly, ensuring safe and stable transport. They are adjustable in length, accommodating various truck or load sizes.
Edge / Corner Protectors
Edge/Corner Protectors are used to protect loads from damage caused by straps or chains cutting into them or to distribute even pressure at the corners of the load.
E-Track Systems
E-Track Systems provide versatile and adjustable anchor points for efficient securement in vehicles. They consist of horizontal and vertical tracks with multiple slots or openings where various load securement devices can be attached. This allows for flexible load securement options, making them versatile for securing a variety of cargo types.
Why Invest in High-Quality Trucking Cargo Control?
1. Safety
High-quality cargo control equipment ensures that the load is securely fastened and less likely to shift or become dislodged during transit. This reduces the risk of accidents, injuries, and damage to both the cargo, the driver and other road users.
2. FMSCA Compliance
The FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) has strict regulations in place governing cargo securement to ensure the safety of commercial motor vehicles and other road users. Many regions also have strict regulations and standards for cargo securement. Investing in high-quality equipment helps you comply with these regulations, reducing the risk of violations, fines, and legal liabilities.
3. Load Protection
Proper load prevents shifting, crushing, or spillage during transit, ensuring that your goods arrive at their destination in the intended condition.
4. Long-Term Savings
While high-quality cargo control equipment may have a higher upfront cost, it can lead to significant cost savings in the long run. Avoiding cargo damage, accidents, and fines can save you money on repairs, insurance premiums, and legal fees.
5. Durability
High-quality cargo control equipment is built to withstand the rigors of the transportation industry.
Durable equipment is much more reliable and doesn’t require as many repairs or replacements, also providing peace of mind.
