Pneumatic (air) Hoists
Pneumatic or air hoists provide flexibility in high speed lifting and precise load control in a workstation. Rather than using electric motors, these hoists use pneumatically driven motors for power to lift loads. These hoists are commonly used in workplaces where sparks from an electric hoist could cause a hazard, such as mining, paint shops and chemical processing plants.
Manual Chain Hoists
Manual chain hoists (also known as hand chain hoist or chain block) are used to assist manual lifting by using a lifting chain, a lifting mechanism and a grabbing hook. The 2 most common types of manual chain hoist are hand chain hoists and lever chain hoists.
Hand Chain HoistS
Hand chain hoists use a hand operated chain to lift heavy loads. Also known as chain blocks, these hoists contain a chain that is wound around two wheels. The greatest benefit of hand chain hoists is portability when compared to powered chain hoists. They are also significantly cheaper and require little maintenance. Because no electricity is needed for hand chain hoists, they are also safe to use in environments that are sensitive to sparks.
Lever Chain Hoists
Lever chain hoists, often called come-a-longs are typically used to hoist a load towards the top hook where the user is positioned and has access to operate the ratchet lever. They can be used to raise a load, lower a load or suspend it in a neutral position. The user can raise or lower the load by cranking the lever which minimizes the lifting effort required. Lever hoists are a great alternative to electric hoists because they are safe, portable and easy to use.
Wire Rope Hoists
Wire rope hoists are the standard hoisting mechanism used on bridge cranes. Wire rope hoists have a neater aesthetic thanks to the neat storage of the wire rope around the drum. Wire rope hoists are more commonly used in environments where longer lifting range is required. Because of the high costs and storage requirements of using long lengths of chain, wire rope is a widely used alternative. Most electric hoists over 5-ton are wire rope due to lifting speed and costs.
Trolleys
A beam trolley is a valuable piece of construction equipment that is used on sites the world over. They are essentially like wheeled clamps that lock onto I beams and allow loads to traverse along them horizontally. At MTN we offer a wide range of beam trolleys and clamps from trusted brands.
